The selective discipline “Modern practices – virtual patient as training to OSCI-2” is an component of the educational and professional training program during the 6th year of study. Practical classes include simulation scenarios with "virtual patients" using problem-based learning (PBL) methods, as well as simulation scenarios on models of standardized patients based on the Center for Simulation Medicine and Innovative Technologies. European and world experience shows that PBL is the most receptive and effective method of implementing educational programs and curricula in higher medical establishments and is the dominant pedagogical strategy in the field of higher education. PBL allows medical students to study not only the main disciplines, but integrates the acquired theoretical knowledge with the acquisition of practical skills.

The basis of the method is a problem situation that prompts students to achievement new, previously unknown ways of behavior and reasoning, adapts future specialists to real working conditions, in particular, teamwork, which strengthens cooperation with colleagues and stimulates independent learning The PBL model directs students to continuous professional development through a realistic approach to accumulation of knowledge.
